Bengal Library Association : Training courses

Certificate in Library Science course, conducted by this Association was started in the year 1937. The course is recognized by the Government and different statutory bodies:

1.	The course is conducted in Two Sessions :
	(i)	WEEK-END SESSION:	December to September, classes are held two days in a week- Saturday and Sunday (usually between 10.00 a.m. to 7.00 p.m.)
	(ii)	SUMMER SESSION:	April to September. Classes are held five days in a week - Monday to Friday (usually between 4.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.)

2.	Notification for admission is generally published in the local daily newspaper. Normally the WEEK-END SESSION is advertised in the months of July - August and for SUMMER SESSION in the months of December – January every year.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION:

Higher Secondary or equivalent examination passed

S.F. or equivalent examination passed, full time paid Librarians/Library Assistants with 5 years’ working experience of Library of recognized institutions may also apply. They must forward their application through the appointing authority.

PRICE OF APPLICATION FORM: Rs. 30.00 (Rupees Thirty Only).

Forms would also be sent by post against a crossed Bank Draft of Rs. 30.00 only drawn in favour of BENGAL LIBRARY ASSOCIATION and a self addressed stamped envelop of Rs. 5.00 only. NO MONEY ORDER WILL BE ACCEPTED. There will be no responsibility on the part of the Association regarding the non-receipt of form sent by post. There are no fees for submission of the form.

SUBMISSION OF APPLICATION FORM: The prescribed form duly filled in and supported by the attested copies of all documents (also appointment letter in case of deputed candidate only) is to be submitted at the Association Office on week days (between 2.00 p.m. to 7.00 p.m.) within the closing date as announced in newspaper. No separate registration fee is needed. Each candidate will have to submit one copy of passport size photograph duly pasted and attested in the form.

ADMISSION: Seats are distributed district wise under each stream. Deputed candidates will get preference. Selection will be made merit wise. SC/ST/PH/OBC candidates are selected as per rules.

CANDIDATE CALLED FOR ADMISSION: A list of candidates called for admission will be displayed on the Notice Board of the Association Office or Candidates may know this personally or over phone (2244-6866).

Selected candidates will have to pay the following fees at the time of admission.

1.	Membership Fee Rs. 75.00
2.	Tuition Fee Rs. 2000.00
	Total: Rs. 2075.00

6.2

Examination Fee (Rs. 300.00) will have to be paid before the final examination.

N.B.

(1)	All correspondences should be addressed to the General Secretary, Bengal Library Association, P134, C.I.T. Scheme No. 52, Kolkata – 700 014.
(2)	Distribution of candidates will be determined on the basis of location of his/her High/Higher Secondary Schools in different district.
(3)	In case of scheduled caste/scheduled tribe / physically handicapped / OBC candidate, a certificate from the appropriate authority to be attached.
(4)	If selected, candidates shall have to arrange his/ her accommodation . There is no provision for hostel.
(5)	At the time of admission candidates will have to show original mark-sheets, certificates, no objection certificate and appointment letters(in case of deputed candidates) and certificates in support of claim for scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/physically handicapped/OBC.
